Dream at 35 weeks.

In general I haven’t written much here about my pregnancy, but some stories just demand telling.

I don’t know if this sort of thing will begin occurring more frequently as labor approaches, but I had a birth-dream last night:

As now, I’m at 35 weeks. But, unlike real life, in the dream, I’m in labor prematurely, having twins.

They are bananas.

And naturally, being premature…

they are green bananas.

  1. They’ll be inseparable in their formative years, often playing jokes on others by switching identities. They might even hang with the same bunch for a while. Soon they’ll begin to age and mellow and find different things appealing. Eventually they’ll have to split to live their own lives. But don’t worry mom, they’ll always call just to say yellow and make sure to visit on the holidays for some of your home-made pie.

  2. It was disturbing and interesting at the same time, I Google it… I found a very strange dream website and I found this on other pages too:

Banana To dream of bananas, foretells that you will be mated to an uninteresting and an unloved companion. To eat them, foretells a tiresome venture in business, and self-inflicted duty. To see them decaying, you are soon to fall into some disagreeable enterprise. To trade in them, non-productive interests will accumulate around you.

    So bizarre!

  3. Roland — according to Marianne below, those dream soothsayers already are!

Thank you, Emma! Does it make me impossibly vain if I agree? And then confess that I suspect instead of brilliant, my subconscious may be simply, dully, literal?

Oh, Kevin, but where does Vincent, my non-banana child, fit in relation to his new siblings??

Very bizarre, Marianne — but I note that banana-births are not explained. Could it be that, at the very very least, I have had an Original dream??
